Welcome to the City Opera Education Guide
Don Pasquale by Gaetano Donizetti
We are pleased to present you with the Don Pasquale Teachers’ Guide, designed to lead you and your students through a rich exploration of this comic masterpiece. The opera Don Pasquale serves as a wonderful educational tool because of its witty, tender storyline and melodies considered among the most beautiful ever written for opera. We have created a versatile website with a simple navigation process to make your experience more enjoyable. You can begin by familiarizing yourself with Workshops your students will experience during the school year and viewing Lesson Plans created by a team of experienced Arts Educators.
The Student Experience: In the Student Experience, we describe the interactive exercises, “out-of-seat” activities, and assignments that comprise the Workshop, Performance and Culminating Activity experience. Please review the Workshop and Performance descriptors in order to maximize each encounter for the students.
Lesson Plans: Here you will find multidisciplinary Lesson Plans; each one uniquely connected to the opera yet flexible enough to be experienced using a variety of methods. The tool bar on each page links you to material that supports our Lesson Plans including the Synopsis and Script, Composer Biography, Music Glossary, Virtual Tour, Resources and Recordings, and Download Center where anything you may want to print out is all in one place.
